Why does art matter? Art in Context draws on Warhol’s life, work, and legacy as a starting point to open up generative conversations about complex contemporary issues, digging in to topics like immigration, gentrification, representation, and free expression. Talks, screenings, and performances aim to spark relevant discourse and forge new connections between artists, scholars, community leaders, and our audiences.
The series has a local focus, bringing together diverse stakeholders from Pittsburgh in dialogue with national figures and each other. Art in Context highlights the unique voices, perspectives, and concerns of our city and region and fosters an engaged exchange of ideas at the museum.
