The weirdly innocent Harry Langdon, one of the “Great Four”, silent comedians (alongside Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton, and Harold Lloyd), makes his feature debut as a befuddled hobo who mistakenly enters a cross-country walking race with prize money at stake which could save his family from otherwise certain eviction from their home. This comedy, co-written by Frank Capra, showcases some jaw-dropping stunts and features rising star Joan Crawford in her first significant role as Langdon’s love interest.
A live score for the film will be composed and performed by Tom Roberts (piano).
