Sound Series: Mary Timony with special guest youbet

Wednesday, March 13, 2024, 8 p.m.

Mary Timony stands in a room with white walls. She is wearing a purple cape and is looking towards the camera with her right arm up across her chest.

We welcome back singer-songwriter and guitarist Mary Timony, on a tour supporting her fifth solo album, Untame the Tiger, on Merge Records. For more than 30 years, Timony has cut a distinctive path through the world of independent music, most recently as vocalist and guitarist of acclaimed garage-pop power trio Ex Hex, but also as a member of seminal post-punk band Autoclave, celebrated leader of the deeply influential Helium, multifaceted solo artist, and a co-founder of supergroup Wild Flag.

Described by Sleater-Kinney’s Carrie Brownstein as “Mary Shelley with a guitar” and dubbed “a trailblazer and an innovator” by [Mary’s former guitar student] Lindsey Jordan a.k.a. Snail Mail, Timony has distinguished herself as one of her generation’s most influential guitarists and songwriters. Brooklyn-based youbet, led by songwriter Nick Llobet, opens the evening.

  • Doors open at 7:30 p.m.
  • This performance is primarily standing room only. Limited seating is available upon advance request. We are committed to offering inclusive, engaging experiences for people of all abilities. To request accommodations to enhance your visit, please contact access@warhol.org or call 412.237.8354.
