Sound Series: Lyra Pramuk

Thursday, April 28, 2022, 8 p.m.

A person with long, blonde hair and wearing a red dress is looking towards the camera. There is a green plant in the foreground and trees in the background.

We welcome singer, composer-producer, performance artist, and model, Lyra Pramuk, on tour supporting her latest album Fountain on the Icelandic label, Bedroom Community. Pramuk, who grew up singing in choirs in a rural central Pennsylvania town, went on to study at Eastman School of Music, and is currently based in Berlin. Her interests lie primarily at the intersection of electronic pop music and opera, counting Björk, Laurie Anderson, Meredith Monk, M.I.A, and Missy Elliot as inspirations. Composed and arranged entirely from the sound of her own voice, Fountain, has been described as integrating the intimacies of the club and the emotional multitude of trans experiences into “an excavation of her own body’s resonant possibilities” (Pitchfork), envisioning a post-human queer futurity.
