The Warhol is thrilled to welcome Jeff Mangum of Neutral Milk Hotel, to the opulent Carnegie Music Hall in Oakland. As central figure of the highly influential band Neutral Milk Hotel (NMH), Mangum has had a profound impact over the past two decades on indie folk/rock music, largely due to his most recognized NMH record, In The Aeroplane Over The Sea. Released in 1998 on Merge Records, it’s still widely considered a cult classic album and has served to bring further exposure to a group of like-minded musicians, known as the Elephant 6 collective (also including bands such as Olivia Tremor Control, Apples In Stereo) in Athens, GA, (the college town made famous by R.E.M.). Just this year, Mangum has performed at the Coachella Festival and guest curated the All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in Minehead, UK. The Warhol is proud to present his first headlining solo show in Pittsburgh. Tall Firs (Dave Mies and Aaron Mullan) on Thurston Moore’s Ecstatic Peace! Records, and the experimental folk sounds of Briars of North America, open the show.
$1 per each ticket to benefit Children of the Blue Sky.
