Off the Wall: 2011 – Nora Chipaumire with Thomas Mapfumo/The Blacks Unlimited: lions will roar, swans will fly, angels will wrestle heaven, rains will break: gukurahundi

Tuesday, March 8, 2011, 8 p.m.

Visionary, contemporary dancer/choreographer, Nora Chipaumire and musician, poet, living legend Thomas Mapfumo create an exploration of exiled Zimbabweans in a globalized world. With his band, The Blacks Unlimited, Mapfumo creates a soundscape for the stunning Chipaumire and fellow dancer Souleymane Badolo and a performance that speaks to the human condition with power, authority and urgency.

It’s cross-generational, cross-continental, and for one night, will cross the threshold of the August Wilson Center for African American Culture.
