The Misfits (1961) 124 min. Directed by John Huston. Starring Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Montgomery Clift, Thelma Ritter, Eli Wallach
Written by Monroe’s real-life husband at the time, playwright Arthur Miller, The Misfits tells the story of a disillusioned divorcee named Roslyn Taber (Monroe) and her brooding cowboy friends (Gable, Clift and Wallach) who are traveling the rodeo circuit in search of temporary employment. Although not a commercial or critical success the film is often praised for the performances of its stars. Sadly, it would mark the last movie appearances of Gable and Monroe.
