My name is Dominique Seneca, and I’m part of The Warhol’s Youth Invasion Advisory Board. I am invading The Warhol blog today to give you all the nitty-gritty details on the museum’s biggest teen event of the year, taking place Friday, May 8, 2015. Youth Invasion is an annual event for teens to have absolute freedom to “take over” The Warhol for a night. (How awesome is that?!) It’s an atmosphere for teens, created by teens.

The Advisory Board is busy planning Youth Invasion. This entire event is made for teens, by teens.

The night includes a fashion show, live acts, bands, screenprinting, and many more surprises to guarantee a night you’ll never forget. It’s going to attack your senses, releasing you from all your worries, insecurities, and that voice in your head saying you can’t do something. Dance the night away, sing your heart out to the bands, ask the cutie sitting next to you their name, or enjoy making art. At Youth Invasion, we want you to be free and to come as you are.

Which brings me to our theme…

Youth Invasion 2015: Exploding Plastic Inevitable
Youth Invasion 2015: Exploding Plastic Inevitable

This year’s Youth Invasion is all about Warhol’s breakthrough 1966 multimedia event, The Exploding Plastic Inevitable, featuring music by The Velvet Underground and Nico, Warhol’s film projections, light shows, and the underground culture itself: the artistic movement applied to various subcultures, artists, poets, philosophers, and anyone who didn’t want to conform to the typical trends of the mainstream. It’s a place for free thinking and expressive dreamers to network. It’s where you can be yourself, no matter who you are. It’s a pure form of self-expression. No apologies necessary; the world’s behind you.

The Youth Invasion Advisory Board is working on making this year’s Youth Invasion just that kind of place. A multisensory silver dream world for you to experience. Let the chaos in, celebrate your youth, and have fun.

The choice is yours, don’t be late. Meet me in the underground.
