behind the scenes By Rachel Baron-Horn
Everyone could use a good nip and tuck, don’t you think? Just in time for The Andy Warhol Museum’s 20th anniversary we are embarking on a renovation of the first floor with help from Desmone & Associates and generous funding from The Eden Hall Foundation, The McCune Foundation, The Heinz Endowments and The Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. Plans include moving our museum store to a much larger space on the 1st floor. We are knocking down walls to let in more natural light, highlighting Warhol’s love of art and commerce and of course increasing the variety of products for sale. You will definitely want to do your holiday shopping in the new store. The main lobby will be transformed into Warhol’s factory. Think silver brick walls and lots of seating – a real place to gather, talk, watch, create and chill. At night the lobby can transform into a live performance space, an elegant sit down dinner for 200 or a raging Bar Mitzvah party. The idea is to make the first floor a multi-functional space; something for everyone. We hope you love the new look coming this fall. And if you ask nicely I will let you wear my pink hat.
