Youth Programs

Create. Publish. Distribute.
Youth Publications is an annual paid internship in which high school students are hired to learn website management, desktop publishing, workplace etiquette and more. Starting with writing and magazine layout exercises, the student assistants become more familiar with the industry standard of publishing for print, finally resulting in a full issue of Urban Interview.

Urban Interview, based on Andy Warhol’s Interview Magazine, serves as a voice for Pittsburgh’s youth. Past articles have included fiction pieces about acrobats, interviews with video game and fashion designers, tales of high school football triumph, and much, much more.

Any questions about the program, including how to get involved can be forwarded to either Mary Tremonte (tremontem@warhol.org) or Ian Kazimer (kazimerl@warhol.org)

In addition to publishing Urban Interview (5.7MB PDF), a magazine inspired by Warhol's Interview, this year student workers also learned how to make hand-made zines, silkscreens, web pages, radio shows and podcasts.

This program is supported in part by a grant from YouthWorks.
